The Pilgrimage of Light
The cover of Paladin of God: The Pilgrimage of Light represents far more than the visual identity of my first novel. It is a tribute to the stories, films, and artwork that inspired my lifelong passion for fantasy.
When I began searching for a creative partner to bring this vision to life, I wanted more than a talented graphic designer—I wanted a team that genuinely understood the atmosphere I was trying to recreate. After reviewing the remarkable portfolio of creativepublishingdesign.com. I knew I had found the right collaborators. Over the course of five weeks, we worked closely together, exchanging ideas, refining concepts, and carefully shaping every element until the final design reflected the world I had imagined for so many years.
My earliest memories of fantasy trace back to John Milius’ Conan the Barbarian (1982). I was only three or four years old when I secretly watched the film while my parents were at home, unaware that I had wandered into the room. Although I was far too young to understand everything unfolding on the screen, I remember being completely captivated. From that moment on, fantasy became part of my life.
The unforgettable score composed by Basil Poledouris, the majestic cinematography, the mythic atmosphere, and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic portrayal of Conan created an experience unlike anything I had ever seen. It established, in my mind, what fantasy should feel like: mysterious, grand, dangerous, and filled with the promise of adventure.
For many years afterward, every fantasy novel, film, television series, or video game I experienced was measured, consciously or unconsciously, against that feeling.
When the time came to create the cover for The Pilgrimage of Light, I wanted to capture that same sense of wonder—not by imitating the artwork of the past, but by honoring the emotions those classic fantasy films awakened in me. From the beginning, I knew exactly how I wanted the central composition to feel. The protagonist of the novel is a seasoned traveler, swordsman, and hunter. Rather than depicting him in the middle of combat, I wanted readers to accompany him during the quiet moment before the adventure truly begins. He walks alone through an ancient forest toward forgotten ruins illuminated by a distant light.
Forests have always fascinated me. Even today, vast woodlands conceal the remnants of civilizations long vanished, while countless mysteries remain hidden beneath their canopies. They evoke both beauty and uncertainty—the perfect setting for an epic fantasy journey where every step could reveal forgotten knowledge, unimaginable danger, or ancient evil. That simple idea became the foundation of the entire cover.
The image invites the reader to ask a single question: What lies beyond those ruins?
Everything else grew naturally from that concept.
Throughout the creative process, we refined the composition, adjusted the lighting, balanced the colors, and revised countless details until every element contributed to the same objective: to create a cover that conveyed mystery, exploration, hope, and the beginning of an unforgettable pilgrimage.
Looking back, I could not be happier with the result. It is more than the cover of my first novel—it is the visual gateway into the world of Aërwa, and the first step of a journey I hope readers will remember for many years to come.

Early Sketches
These early sketches represent the first visual concepts developed from the initial creative brief I shared with the team at Creative Publishing Book Design. My vision centered on the main protagonist of the novel traversing a dark, ancient forest, drawn toward mysterious ruins hidden in the distance. These preliminary illustrations allowed us to explore the composition, perspective, atmosphere, and overall mood of the cover before refining the finer details through successive revisions, ultimately leading to the final approved design.
